Infinite Eye Photography has had the privilege of being an Official Team Photographer for The Edmonton Stingers for three years running now. We have witnessed some amazing basketball but also the great people and work that The Stingers organization has done in and around the Edmonton Community.
Stingers are two-time champions of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) and are the only CEBL team to date to have local ownership. They pride themselves on community involvement, championship calibre basketball, and a fan experience that is second to none.
Always expanding their community-based initiatives around the city such as the Stingers Fresh Hoops and Basketball for All programs.
One of the Big announcements for the upcoming 2023 season is that former Olympian and Canadian National Team player Katherine Plouffe has been signed on as an official Community Ambassador. The Edmonton native and the Stingers are partnering to bring growth and accessibility aimed to fill a notable gap, to bring high-level basketball experience to girls.
Also, this season, the Stingers will host an inaugural Indigenous Celebration Night on June 17th when they play against the Montreal Alliance. The project comes as a joint effort between the Stingers, Indigenous Edmonton Entertainment Group (IEEG) and Windspeaker Media.
The night will feature a halftime rendition of Bear Grease, an international Indigenous hit musical. As part of the celebration, the Stingers are inviting numerous Indigenous youth basketball teams to attend the game through the Basketball For All program.
Plus, the game will also be the first professional basketball game ever to be broadcast in both English and Cree - how cool is that? It will be broadcast live on 89.3 FM The Raven with Wayne Jackson and Darcy Houle.
Stingers Entertainment Group are like a BIG family, always encouraging others and committed to making positive and meaningful impacts within their community. Stingers players, staff, cheer team, and the always energetic team mascot, Buzz are involved with so much in our local community.
